Our
Founding
In 1996, God began Biblical Concepts in Counseling (BCC) as a satellite
office of the International Center for Biblical Counseling. ICBC
Colorado (later to become BCC) traces its roots to God’s answer to the
prayers of four families. Those families met together out of desire for
healing in their own families and the restoration of their wayward
children. Drawing heavily on the works of Neil Anderson, Mark Bubeck,
Larry Crabb, and others, BCC began seeking biblical answers to root
problems that keep people from enjoying the abundant life that Jesus
came to provide. As people were led to Jesus in prayer to resolve their
brokenness and rebelliousness, they began to experience new freedom and
abundant life.
In 2001, BCC formed its
own nonprofit organization and began counseling primarily couples.
Jesus is giving significant healing through the ministry of BCC. We now
work with couples and individuals regularly and we are encouraging
those who have found significant healing to walk with another hurting
person down the same path.
BCC currently has five
associate offices located around the U.S. and Canada. Over the past
eleven years ten different counselors have served at the Colorado
Springs office. At this time BCC has a staff of three counselors
serving the needs of those desiring help and training those who want to
help others. We continue to pray for God’s glory to be evident in all
we do and for His Word to be central.
Philosophy
of Biblical Concepts In Counseling
Biblical Concepts in Counseling is committed to assist individuals,
couples and families find freedom from three main problems: emotional
problems, spiritual problems and spiritual strongholds.
- Emotional issues stem
from emotional damage through emotional, physical, sexual or spiritual
abuse. (Luke 4:18).
- Spiritual problems
include unresolved bitterness, pride, rebellion, temporal values,
hypocrisy or moral failure.
- Problems related to
spiritual strongholds stem from giving ground to the enemy through
specific activities that give the enemy access to influence an
individual. These may include, but are not limited to, involvement in
the occult, rebellion, drugs, etc. (Eph. 4:27, I Sam. 15:23)
Our approach to
counseling involves a dependence upon the Holy Spirit to lead us
(counselor) to assist the counselee to resolve each of their personal
problems. We trust the Holy Spirit to direct, convict and enable the
counselee in this process.
We seek to apply Biblical
principles in leading a person to find freedom from each specific
problem they struggle with. We do not judge a person for where they are
or have been, but seek to follow the direction of the Lord to resolve
and lead individuals to freedom. (Gal. 5:1, John 10:10)
Our goal is to assist
each individual to realize and understand God's design and purpose in
their lives and find fulfillment in being the person God designed for
them to be. We want them to be spiritually free from anything that
would hinder them (sin, barriers, unresolved issues) from experiencing
the joy and peace God designed for them to experience in relationship
with Him.
We seek to lead a person
to respond to Biblical truth and to identify the sin or spiritual
issues that are keeping them from responding the way God wants them to
respond. We seek to resolve issues in their mind (intellect) and heart
(Matt. 15: 10-20). Our goal is to encourage and motivate an
individual/couple to resolve their emotional or spiritual issues and
lead them to find Biblical solutions that will transform their
thinking, their heart and their actions.
Our goal is that each
individual counseled will have a proper understanding of God, and His
Word and would have a right relationship in their heart with God and be
right with others.
Our desire is that
biblical counseling be available, without cost to anyone who desires to
come to freedom in Christ. Our ministry is supported through
contributions and we are a 501 (c) 3 organization. All gifts are tax
deductible.
Biblical
Concepts in Counseling Believes
1. We believe that the Bible is divinely inspired, entirely trustworthy
and the final authority faith and practice.
2. We believe that there
is one true God, eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit - each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of
Deity and the characteristics of personality.
3. We believe that Jesus
Christ is God, the living Word. That He was born of a virgin, lived a
sinless life, performed miracles, shed His blood in a substitutionary
and atoning death, was raised bodily from the dead, He ascended to the
right hand of the Father and He will personally return in power and
glory.
4. We believe that
humanity was created good and upright, but by the transgression of
Adam, all of humanity fell into sin. Humanity’s only hope for
redemption is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
5. We believe that we are
saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ; His death, burial, and
resurrection. He is the only way to salvation. Salvation is a gift from
God, not as a result of our good works or of any human effort.
6. We believe that the
ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and
during this age to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, to
indwell, seal, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly
living and service.
7. We believe that Jesus
Christ will come again to the earth - personally, visibly and bodily -
to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.
8. We believe that the
bodies of the dead will be raised. The believer will enter into
everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and the unbeliever will
be condemned to everlasting punishment.
9. We believe in the
spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and His church.
Purpose

hurting individuals and couples who have been damaged and need
spiritual assistance in resolving their personal, emotional or

problems they struggle with in their personal lives.
The purpose of BCC is:
To provide Biblically
based counseling to individuals seeking help,
To provide resources for individuals or couples who want to resolve
their problems on their own,

spiritual and emotional needs.
Counselors at BCC will:
Assist the counselee in
identifying the particular emotional or spiritual problem(s)
Lead the counselee in identifying the cause of the problem(s)
Lead the counselee to a Biblical solution to each particular problem
identified
Counselees are led spiritually to resolve each problem(s) he/she is
struggling with in their personal life.
