Frequently Asked Questions:
What do the counseling sessions look like?
BCC offers intensive counseling appointments which are 4 days
(approximately 15 hours) for couples. Two 3 hour sessions on Monday and
one 3 hour session daily Tuesday through Thursday.
How do I prepare for my counseling session?
There are two parts to this intensive appointment (home study
preparation, and guided interaction with the counselor). If your desire
is to restore relationships and experience freedom, then we strongly
recommend that you attend a pathWay conference or purchase the pathWay
DVD’s, and work through the corresponding pages in the guidebook. We
have found that those who are prepared experience the most benefit from
their time at BCC.
What are the various ministries of BCC?
BCC offers counseling, teaching through pathWay conferences, and
training.
If we can’t wait for our appointment, do you
recommend anyone else?
We realize that there are true emergencies, and waiting would be
harmful. If we are unable to schedule you right away, BCC will
recommend other counselors. However, many times waiting is beneficial
as we gain perspective on our situation.
How is your counseling different?
The goal at BCC is to restore relationships by getting to the core
issues of the heart that keep us stuck. This is accomplished through
the guiding of the Holy Spirit as we lead people in prayer in four
different areas as needed. These areas include: Spiritual, Emotional,
Maturity, and Enemy Strongholds. In order for this model to work, each
person must be open, honest and willing to work on their own issues.
How does BCC differ
from Theophostic counseling?
Below is a statement directly from the Theophostic website.
Theophostic
Prayer Ministry Session Guidelines
"Theophostic
Prayer Ministry (TPM) is basically prayer and not traditional
counseling (giving advice, diagnosing, providing insight, giving
direction, proving steps of action, the facilitator solving the
person’s problems, etc.). Therefore, a TPM facilitator should never
offer this type of counsel, but rather intercede with you to God. A TPM
facilitator should encourage you to discover, while depending on the
Holy Spirit, the lies you believe that are at the source of the
emotional pain in you life.

While
BCC helps people identify unresolved brokenness (emotional pain) and
lies that are attached to it and takes them to Jesus in prayer for
healing, we also seek to help people identify unresolved rebelliousness
(pride, moral sin, etc.) and take them to Jesus in prayer for
forgiveness. We take a more active role in helping people identify root
problems. Like Theophostic, BCC also relies on the Holy Spirit to guide
and upon Jesus to bring healing and cleansing. We also give people
tools to continue walking in freedom after they leave our office.
Does your ministry only counsel couples?
The goal at BCC is to restore relationships. For married couples, we
highly recommend and prefer to counsel the couple together. This
enables the counselor to guide them through their issues. We currently
do not provide counseling for individual men, and we have very limited
counseling available for women. In the future we hope to return to
providing sessions for men. If this is your situation, please give us a
call.
Are the counselors licensed?
BCC counselors are not licensed. Both of our counselors at the home
office have graduated from seminary and served in the pastorate. They
have over 30 years of combined experience in pastoral counseling, and
listening to the hearts of people.
Will you counsel someone who has been divorced?
Yes, again our goal is to restore relationships.
Are you affiliated with any particular
denomination?
No. We exist to serve anyone who recognizes their need and want help on
the pathway to emotional healing and spiritual growth.
What is the charge for a week of counseling?
BCC does not have a set fee for counseling. The cost is covered through
donations given by clients and supporters of the ministry. Biblical
Concepts in Counseling is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization
incorporated in the state of Colorado and all gifts are tax deductible.
How do I make a donation?
We offer several convenient ways for you to make a donation:
Credit Card
Paypal
Electronic Funds Transfer
Cash or Check
All donations are tax deductible, and you will receive a receipt. The
BCC Board and Staff greatly appreciate any financial gifts the Lord
leads you to give. Without these gifts, this ministry could not
continue.
How do I get involved?
There are several ways that you can become involved. First, we offer a
Training Seminar twice a year in Colorado Springs. If the Lord has
burdened your heart to help others, this is a good place to start. At
this seminar you will acquire a better understanding of our philosophy
of counseling and take home practical tools to aid in caring for
people. The second step if you would like to learn more would be to
apply for our Prayer Partner Program. This would involve sitting in
during a week long counseling session, observing and praying for the
counseling session and the counselees. The third step if you are
considering either a counseling career, or opening an office would be
for you to schedule a 4 week Internship. During this time you would
observe and pray as well as interact with the counselor. There is a
cost involved for the internship. For either the Prayer Partner, or the
Internship Program, we would ask that you contact our office for an
application, further details and available dates.
What is a pathWay Conference?
The goal of the pathWay Conference is to awaken the heart for a journey
in abundant living. Jesus said, “I came that they may have life, and
have it abundantly” (John 10:10b) Many ask, ‘Where is this abundant
life Jesus came to provide?” During this weekend conference we hope to
present practical and interactive teaching that will help you identify
areas of brokenness and rebelliousness which are keeping you from
experiencing abundant living.
How do I request a pathWay Conference?
There are a couple of ways that you could put on a conference. First
you could send a request on your church stationary with a few tentative
dates that would work for you. We would then compare them to our
calendar and try to set a date. BCC has a packet of promotional ideas
to make your conference successful. If you are interested in obtaining
one, please contact the office. Second, you could purchase a set of
pathWay DVD’s and present the conference in a small group setting. You
may order these materials on our website, or contact our office at 719
573 8051.
